The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is a nationwide competitive examination in India conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various Civil Services of the Government of India, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Revenue Service (IRS)

UPSC Civil Services Exam Eligibility-

Degree from a Central, State or Deemed university

Degree received through correspondence or distance education

Degree from an open university

A qualification recognized by the Government of India as being equivalent to one of the above

Candidates who have appeared in an examination, the passing of which would render them educationally qualified enough to satisfy one of the above points

Candidates who have passed the final exam of the MBBS degree but have not yet completed an internship

Candidates who have passed the final exam of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), ICSI and ICWAI

Degree from a private university

Degree from any foreign university recognized by the Association of Indian Universities

Age limit-

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years

For other backwards castes (OBC) the upper age limit is 35, and for scheduled castes (SC) and scheduled tribes (ST) the limit is 37 years.

Date of Notification: 27 April, 2016
Last Date to Apply: 27 May, 2016
Exam Date: 7 August, 2016
Civil Services Mains: 3 December, 2016

CSAT (Prelims) Pattern

The Preliminary Examination consists of two papers of Objective type (multiple choice questions) and carry maximum of 400 marks.

Paper I - General Studies 2 Hours 100 200
Paper II - Aptitude 2 Hours 80 200
Total 400

In General Studies Paper - II, minimum qualifying marks is 33%.

You will be selected for Mains exam based total qualifying marks of General Studies Paper - I.

Civil Services (Mains) Pattern

The pattern has changed from 2013 main examination. The new pattern is:
