As you want to get the tips for clearing the exam of Provincial Civil Services so here is the information of the same for you: Tip #1 Since these exams are the state exams one should be well aware of the history and geography of the particular state. Tip #2 Since PCS is a civil service exam the candidates should be ready for a high difficulty level and mentally prepared for putting in a good amount of hard work. Tip #3 Though the exam is a state exam one must have basic knowledge of the country, the latest happenings in the country too. For that the candidates must start following one national newspaper in order to keep themselves well acquainted of the happenings in and around the world. Tip #4 The candidates should pay special attention in enhancing there general knowledge. They should be ready to learn new things every moment. Tip #5 For the interview the candidates should be well prepared with the regional language, culture and custom. This adds to your credit. Tip #6 Since the exam is conducted by UPSC the pattern remains the same, i.e. prelims first, then the mains and then the interview. But the small states go for the mains directly. Tip #7 Also, the candidates should pick up last few years' question papers and try and solve them. This will give them an idea of the pattern and make them comfortable with it. Tip #8 It is a plus point to be guided by an experienced candidate or a good teacher who can direct your efforts correctly. Tip #9 Candidates must keep appearing for the mock papers and should keep a check on the time because with a good preparation it is very important to attempt all questions in time. PCS stands for Provincial Civil Services. It is an exam which is held for the recruitment of candidates for the civil service posts in a state. These posts are under the State government and one can not be transferred to another state once recruited in PCS. I am giving you some guideline of the exam pattern and the subjects asked in the exam which you need to prepare. First of all, in the month of May or June there are the “Preliminary examinations”. Now, in this examination, there are two papers. The papers are on: 1. General Studies (150 marks) 2. Some optional subject (300 marks) General Studies Paper-- General Studies paper consists of questions on: Indian Polity & Economy History of India including Indian National Movement Indian and World Geography Current Affairs of National and International Importance General and day-to-day Science Mental Ability and Basics of Statistics etc. Questions on planning, budgeting, developmental programs, latest issues of political and constitutional importance, panchayati raj, electoral reforms, natural resources, culture, growth of nationalism, Committees, Commission etc can be expected every year. Now-a-days, there is a lot of emphasis on “current affairs” in the general studies paper! Here you have to give a paper on a subject of your choice. You can choose from the following subjects: Agriculture Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science Botany Chemistry Civil Engineering Commerce Economics Electrical Engineering Geography Geology Indian History Law Mathematics Mechanical Engineering Medical Science Philosophy Physics Political Science Psychology Public Administration Sociology Statistics Zoology In the main examination, there are “9” papers that you have to give!
