Default Re: What can I choose between IMA and OTA?

Indian Military Academy and the Officers Training Academy both are the wings of NDA. The NDA examination is conducted by the UPSC.

Indian Military Academy imparts training to the officers qualified for permanent commission in Indian Army, For IMA only Unmarried Males are eligible

Officers Training Academy imparts training to the officers selected/opted for short service commission. For OTA (Officers Training Academy) Both married and unmarried males candidates are eligible.

To apply for OTA and IMA, You need a bachelor degree from a recognised University or colleges with good academic record.

IMA applicants have to appear for written exam for Maths, English and General Studies, whereas for OTA candidates only English and General Studies are applicable. The IMA candidates undergo 1½ year and OTA Candidates undergo 11 months of training. So, this is the main difference between IMA and OTA.
