I am in Class 10th and I want to become an IAS Officer. So can you suggest me that which stream is better for me to become an IAS? To become IAS officer, choose any stream among science, commerce and arts. You have to apply for Civil Services Aptitude Test to become IAS officer for this you must have graduation in any discipline. CSAT is conducted by UPSC every year in the month of May or June. IAS officer eligibility- Degree or an equivalent qualification from recognised University. Final year of a degree course can also for appear in the Preliminary Examination. Age must be between 21 years and 30 years. Relaxation of 3 years for OBC candidates 5 years for SC/ST candidates. CSAT exam pattern- Pre exam pattern- CSAT Consisting of two papers. The papers are on: Paper Marks Time General Knowledge 200 2 Hr. Comprehension and logical Reasoning 200 2 Hr. As you want to become IAS officer, so here I want to suggest that you can select any stream in class 11th. Because the minimum qualification is the candidates who have bachelor degree from any recognized with any discipline, can apply for IAS Exam. But as per my knowledge, I am suggesting you to take Arts Stream. Because that candidates who take Arts Stream, they will study History and any other subjects in 2 years study. Syllabus of IAS Paper 1 Current events of national and international importance History of India and Indian national movement Indian and World Geography- physical, social, economic geography of India and the world Indian Polity and governance – constitution, political system, panchayati raj, public policy, Rights issues, etc. Economic and social development – sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives etc. General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change General science. Paper 2 Comprehension Interpersonal skills including communication skills Logical reasoning and analytical ability Decision making and problem solving General mental ability Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. –Class X level) English language comprehension skills (Class X level)
