Yes Merchant Navy course suit the Mechanical Engineers, As you have completed B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering so you can join Merchant Navy for the posts like junior engineer/fifth engineer. In order to get entry in Merchant Navy you have to for pre-sea course. Pre-sea is a one year course which is conducted by various Merchant Navy and Marine Engineering Institute in India.

You can join any of the following training centers for 1year training course --

Training Ship Chanakya, Navi Mumbai
Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Kolkata
Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI) , Mumbai
Lal Bahadur Shastri College of advanced Maritime Studies and Research, Mumbai

Eligibility criteria for Merchant Navy course
-Unmarried male and female Students are ONLY eligible .
-You should have a minimum of 55% in graduation.
- You should have pass 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics
-Age requirement is not more than 20 years.
- SC/ST Students 25 years is maximum age , these categories are given relaxation of five years.
