You must have the Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology; or Master’s degree in Mineral Exploration (for posts in Geological Survey of India only), or Master’s degree in Hydrogeology (for posts in central ground water board only) from a recognized university; or Diploma of Associate ship in Applied Geology of the Indian School of Mines. UPSC Geologist Exam 2011 is divided into two parts - Written Exam and Personality Test. Written Exam: The written test consists of five sections, which are mentioned below: General English (100 marks) Geology Paper 1 (200 marks) Geology Paper 2 (200 marks) Geology Paper 3 (200 marks) Hydrogeology (200 marks) The test comprises of essay-type questions for each topic. The medium of the question paper will be English. And the Personality Test, which comprises of total 200 marks, is conducted for those candidates who have passed by written test. The test is conducted to examine the candidates’ skills and abilities that are for the post. |

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Geologists Survey of India and Central Ground Water Board Exam once in a year. The following are the eligibility details to apply for the Geologist Exam. Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum Exploration or Geochemistry or Geological Technology or Geophysical Technology from a recognized university. Diploma of Associate ship in Applied Geology of the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad Nationality: A student must be either: A citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Age Limits: A student must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years.
