You want to know about National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme so following is its details: NVBDCP is implemented by the Directorate of Health Services jointly with Mission Directorate, NRHM and other Health Directorates. NVBDCP headed by the Joint Director (Mal & Fil) who is also the State Program Officer (SPO) of NVBDCP. Malaria control projects are implemented under the State Project Management Unit under the administration of SPO. State Implementation Plan There are six diseases under the NVBDCP - Malaria, Filaria, Dengue, Chikungunya, Kalaazar and Japanese encephalitis. Of all malaria and filaria pose the greatest public health problem in Orissa. Malaria continues to be the major cause of morbidity and mortality and is prevalent in rural and urban areas. However, the most vulnerable are the SC&ST populace, and people from the low socio-economic, marginalized and disadvantaged background. Out breaks of chikungunya in 2006 has been responsible for high degree of morbidity and panick. The dynamics of these diseases are largely determined by ecoepidemiological, socio-economic and environmental management systems. Young adults representing the economically productive section, children and pregnant women are most vulnerable, although all age groups are affected.
