Kuvempu University was founded on 1987 and it is a young associating University in Karnataka. A Modern Post-Graduate Centre at Kadur began from the academic year 2007-08. The Examination center and Directorate of Distance Teaching are settled in Parikshanga - Doora Shikshana Bhavan. All these offices are totally computerized. It has forty-one Post-Graduate departments of learns in the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce, Education and Law and Providing forty-five Post-Graduate Programmes, four POSTGRADUATE Diploma and 1 Under-Graduate programme. The University has eighty associated colleges, 3 constituent colleges (among three, one is independent college) and other one self-directed college, 1 B.P.Ed college, and seventeen B.Ed. colleges under its jurisdiction spread over two districts of Shimoga, and Chikmagalur.
