The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI), previously The Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India (ICWAI), is a premier statutory professional accountancy body in India for promoting, regulating and developing the profession of Cost & Management Accountancy. The previous year question paper for Foundation Course -Paper – 4: Fundamentals of Business Mathematics and Statistics conducted by Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) is as follows:






Syllabus Paper – 4: Fundamentals of Business Mathematics and Statistics

There are two sections in paper 4 viz.
A) Fundamentals of Business Mathematics
B) Fundamentals of Business Statistics.

The first section carries only 40% (forty per cent) weightage whereas the second section carries 60% (sixty per cent) weightage.

Section A (Fundamentals of Business Mathematics)
Arithmetic (20 Marks)
Algebra (20 Marks)


Section B (Fundamentals of Business Statistics)
Statistical Representation of Data (10 Marks)
Measures of Central Tendency and Dispersion (30 Marks)
Correlation and Regression (10 Marks)
Probability (10 Marks)

Institute of Cost and Works Accountants is one of the leading financial schools in India. Since its inception in 1959, the institute has contributed a lot by producing a bunch of scholars in the world of finance and business.

The ICWA CMA exam conducted by the Insititute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) consists of three stages (Foundation / Intermediate/ Final).

Foundation Course:

Eligibility for Admission:

(a) A candidate should have passed Class 10 or equivalent from a recognized Board or Institution.
(b) Passed Senior Secondary Examination under 10+2 scheme of a recognized Board or an Examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto or has passed National Diploma in Commerce Examination held by the All India Council for Technical Education or any State Board of Technical Education under the authority of the said All India Council, or the Diploma in Rural Service Examination conducted by the National Council of Higher Education.

Intermediate Course:

Eligibility for Admission:
(a) Passed Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2)and Foundation Course of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India/ Graduation in any discipline other than Fine Arts/ Foundation (Entry Level) Part I Examination of CAT of the Institute/ Foundation (Entry Level) Part I Examination and Competency Level Part II Examination of CAT of the Institute
(b) Passed Foundation of ICSI/Intermediate of ICAI by what ever name called along with 10+2.
