The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the Joint Services academy of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets of the three services, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force train together before they go on to pre-commissioning training in their respective service academies.

NDA Eligibility Criteria

• Nationality: One should necessarily be an Indian and must have a domicile certificate to support the same. However, NDA also allows foreign nationals but the clarification for that can be found from the respective embassies of Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan and Myanmar.

• Age: One applying for the NDA exam must be aged between 17 to 20 years

• Educational Qualification:
1. One must have studied physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the higher secondary examination.
2. There is no bar on the minimum percentage qualification

NDA Selection Procedure

The seats are filled by the two academies following a detailed and holistic selection procedure which involves every parameter which can be judged to select a candidate able enough to get entry to the Indian Defence mechanism as a leader.

The selection procedure mainly involves three selection parameters which are mentioned below:
• Written Examination conducted by the UPSC
• Interview conducted by the SSB
• Medical Review by the Command Hospitals

The UPSC has been entrusted with the task of conducting only the written examination after which the successful candidates are called for an interview at the SSB Centers allotted by the Service Selection Board.

The interview is conducted for five days in which the abilities of the candidate in both field and vocal are checked. The candidates are screened and made to do group tasks.

NDA Syllabus:-

The exam will be divided into papers i.e. Paper I (Mathematics) Paper II (General Ability Test).

General Ability Test will be further divided into two parts that include English and General Knowledge.

Syllabus for all the mentioned subjects are given below:-

•Mathematics:- Algebra, Matrices & Determinants, Trigonometry, Analytical Geometry of Two & Three Dimensions, Different Calculus, Integral Calculus & Different Equations, Vector Algebra and Statistics & Probability.
•English: - The English paper will be designed to test students’ proficiency in the languages with verbal reasoning and usage of grammar.
•General Knowledge: - The GK paper will include subjects like Physics, Chemistry, General Science, Social Studies, Geography and
•Current Events. For all the mentioned subjects in the paper, the syllabus will be from 10+2 level.
