Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is going to conduct Recruitment Exam for the post of Probationary Officer (PO) in the month of October. I am providing you detail and Study Plan for it.


Important Dates:

IBPS CWE PO/MT-V

Preliminary Examination:

3rd October 2015,
4th October 2015,
10th October 2015,
11th October 2015

Main Examination:


31st October 2015


IBPS PO study plan:

IBPS PO Exam consists of online Objective Paper. There is no Descriptive Writing Test for IBPS CWE for PO.

The test areas in the objective type test of IBPS PO exams include tests from amongst following:

1. Reasoning
2. Quantitative Aptitude
3. English language
4. General Awareness (with special reference to Banking Industry)
5. Computer Knowledge


Topics covered for the above test areas are mentioned below.

ONLINE PAPER (Objectives):

I. REASONING:


1) If you prepare for Reasoning diligently, you can score heavily in the exam

2) Last year’s exam papers a) Any one of Kiran or Arihant. If you have any other paper set, you can use that as well. You should target to solve at least 50 Reasoning questions everyday from the paper set.

3) Instructions

a) The following are given in decreasing order of priority. This means point 4a is more important to master than point 4b and so on.

b) Solve 30-50 questions on each topic. However, if you already are comfortable with a particular topic, you can move to the next topic to make best use of your time.

c) Similarly if you are really afraid of any particular topic, you can leave it. However, you must make sure that you do atleast the first 5 topics properly and do not leave many topics

4) Study the following topics from Analytical Reasoning By MK Pandey.
You can also choose some other book like RS Aggarwal etc.

a) Logical Reasoning (Topics: Syllogism; Statement-Arguments; Statement- Assumptions; Statement - Courses of Action; Statement- Conclusions; Deriving Conclusions from Passage)
b) Sitting arrangement
c) Puzzles
d) Blood Relations
e) Non Verbal Reasoning (Topics: Series; Analogy; Classification)
f) Input- Output
g) Coding- Decoding
h) Mathematical operations/ Inequalities
i) Data Sufficiency


II. QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE:

1) If you prepare for QA diligently, you can score heavily in the examination

2) Last year’s exam papers
a) Any one of Kiran or Arihant. If you have any other paper set, you can use that as well. You should target to solve at least 50 QA questions everyday from the paper set.

3) Instructions
a) The following are given in decreasing order of priority. This means point 4a is more important to master than point 4b and so on.

b) Solve 30-50 questions on each topic. However, if you already are comfortable with a particular topic, you can move to the next topic to make best use of your time.

c) Similarly if you are really afraid of any particular topic, you can leave it completely. However, you must make sure that you do atleast the first 5 topics properly and do not leave many topics

4) Study the following topics from Quantum CAT by Sarvesh Kumar You can also choose some other book like Tyra or RS Aggarwal etc.

a) Data Interpretation
b) Probability, Permutations & Combinations
c) Percentages
d) BODMAS
e) Geometry (Area-Volume- Perimeter)
f) Linear Equations
g) Number Theory (LCM, HCF, Remainders)

5) Speed mathematics a) Trachtenberg’s method for multiplication by 5, 9 and 11.

b) Learn multiplication tables of 2 to 25 by heart c) Learn squares of numbers up to 31 and cubes of numbers up to 15 by heart III.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE (Objective):

1) Last year’s exam papers

a) Any one of Kiran or Arihant. If you have any other paper set, you can use that as well. You should target to solve at least 50 English Language questions everyday from the paper set.

2) Instructions

a) The following are given in decreasing order of priority. This means point 3a is more important to master than point 3b and so on.

b) Practice 30-50 questions on each topic. However, if you already are comfortable with a particular topic, you can move to the next topic to make best use of your time.

c) Similarly if you are really afraid of any particular topic, you can leave it completely. However, you must make sure that you do at least the first 5 topics properly and do not leave many topics 3) Study the following topics from paper sets. You can also choose to use a book like S P Bakshi

GENERAL AWARENESS:

1) General guidelines


a) Study the following topics with emphasis on understanding concepts. Avoid mugging of data and dates

b) With organizations, you should try to understand functions, jurisdictions, name of key current and past persons in positions of responsibility, geographical location etc.

c) With economic terms and concepts, understand how they change, who changes them and how they are used in the economy

d) With acts and legislations, understand when it was passed, what did it replace, what was the major change and emphasis and how does it affect the economy and various sectors therein

e) These points below are given in decreasing order of importance. Meaning, you should focus on point 1 before you focus on point 2 2) Current affairs: Read Partiyogita Darpan

You can also use any other current affairs magazine like CST, Chronicle or Wizard.

a) Focus on the 5-6 most recent issues of the magazine.

b) Focus on the following topics within the magazine:
1. Economy
2. International Affairs
3. Politics

V. COMPUTER AWARENESS:

1) Books & Resources

a) Available free: NIOS study material on Computer Awareness

b) Last year’s exam papers: Any one of Kiran or Arihant. If you have any other paper set, you can use that as well. You should target to practice at least 30 Computer Awareness questions everyday from the paper sets.

c) Any book from Kiran, Arihant or Upkar on Computer Awareness. If you have any other book, that will also do.

The preparation tips are very useful thing as it makes easy to prepare yourself for any exam. If you prepare according to the plan then your chances of selection can be increased.

So here I am giving you the preparation plan for the IBPS PO exam.

Preparation tips

English


You should read The Hindu or Indian Express every day.This is the most important part for preparations.

Reading comprehensions are most important part of English section. So keep practice on this.

Improve your basic grammar English as it is very necessary in the exam.

Cloze test is the simplest part of the exam. It brings you 5-10 marks in the exam.

Improve your Vocabulary list as it is important from examination point of view.

Quantitative Aptitude

Candidates have to save time from Reasoning, English & General Awareness as this part takes more time to solve the problems.

Questions in this section will be expected of Higher Level.

Calculation is questions are time taking, so candidates have to manage time for solving questions.

Focus on Data Interpretation & Simplification.

Candidates can make strategy about how many no. of questions to be solve in Aptitude part with giving proper attention to all other sections because it is not practically possible to solve all 40 Questions in given time.

Reasoning

This section is very scoring so candidates needs to focus more on this part.

Most of questions in this section are comprehensive type reasoning.

A paragraph is given & 4 to 5 questions asked related to that paragraph.
So this part is very useful, by solving passage you can answer 5 questions in no time.

There is drawback of comprehension type reasoning, if you solve puzzle wrong, your all answers will be wrong. So candidates solve passage with Intelligence & Concentration.

This part plays a crucial role in deciding the selection of yours. Marks of candidates also depend on this section.
