Here I am looking for the syllabus of the Common Aptitude Test in English (CATE), can you tell me the same??? CATE exam is conducted as an Entrance test every year in India by the Delhi University in the 12 affiliated colleges of the University to the students in the undergraduate level. Generally BA degree holders are eligible to attend this test. Exam pattern The CATE exam consists of two major papers Paper I and Paper II with the objective types of questions have the multiple choices. The candidates must clear the Paper I then only he or she can allow to take the Paper II which consists of descriptive questions and applicants must brief their answers relevant to the questions. The final selection to B.A. English (Honours) is determined by the marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying exam (class 12th) and the rank in DU CATE Exam. Delhi University conducts Common Aptitude Test in English (CATE) for admission to BA English (H). The paper is divided into two parts only. The first part (PART A) consisted of a Reading Comprehension passage. It will cover: Analogy, Vocabulary, Idioms, Phrases, Grammar, Usage etc. The second part (PART B) is descriptive section that contained a reading comprehension section which consisted of a poem, followed by four questions. Paper pattern: Total Marks – Section – A : 60 Total Marks – Section – B : 40 Total Marks : 100 Expected Cutoff : 56 – 58 The University has not prescribed any particular syllabus for DU Common Aptitude Test. However, students are recommenced to study Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (10+2) syllabus of the English subject, thoroughly.
