The Indian Police Service Limited Competitive Examination will comprise two components that are Written Examination and Interview for Personality Test.

The objective type papers will be qualifying in nature for evaluating Descriptive Type Papers. However, marks obtained will be counted for merit ranking.


Application Fee:
Application Fee for General and OBC category candidates is Rs 50. Female/ SC/ ST/ PH candidates are exempted from payment of Fee.


Selection Procedure for Indian Police Service Examination:
The Examination will comprise two components viz; Written Examination and Interview for Personality Test as given below:

Paper I
Objective Type
2 hours duration
200 marks

Paper II
Objective Type
2 hours duration
200 marks

Paper III English Language
Descriptive Type
3 hours duration
200 marks

Paper IV Essay
Descriptive Type
3 hours duration
200 marks

Paper V General Studies
Descriptive Type
3 hours duration
200 marks

Interview
200 marks

Total Marks for Written Examination and Interview will be 1000 marks.

The objective type papers will be qualifying in nature for evaluating Descriptive Type Papers. However, marks obtained will be counted for merit ranking.

Paper III is only qualifying in nature and the marks for Paper-III will not be counted for merit ranking.

In cases, where simultaneous evaluations of Papers III and IV/ V are resorted to for saving time, the Commission retains the discretion to treat the Papers IV and V of such candidates who do not attain the qualifying standards for Paper-III as "deemed to be not evaluated".

To become an IPS service officer applicants have to go through Civil Service Examination held by supervision of Union Public Service Commission

Eligibility Criteria :

Applicants must hold a degree

Applicants must have attained the age of 21 years and not have attained the age of 32 years.

Age Relaxation:-

(i) 5 years if applicants belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.

(ii) upto a 3 years in the case of applicants belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such applicants

Application Procedure:

Applicants have to apply online on website

Applicants must have their photograph and signature duly scanned in the jpg format must not exceed 40 KB and must not be less than 3 KB in size for the photograph and 1 KB for the signature .

Applicants are required to complete the Online Application Form comprising two stages i.e. Part-I and Part-II as per the instructions

Applicants are required to pay a fee of Rs.100/- Rupees [excepting SC/ST/ Female/Physically Handicapped applicants who are exempted from payment of fee] by depositing the SBI branch by cash, or by using net banking facility

Candidates must ensure that while filling their Application Form, they are providing valid E-Mail IDs

Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam 2015:-

Date of commencement of Examination:- 23.08.2015 (Sunday)

Duration of the Exam:- 1 Day

Civil Services (Main) Exam 2015:-

Date of commencement of Examination:- 18.12.2015 (Friday)

Duration of the Exam:- 5 days
