Eligibility and Admission

Candidates who have either passed/ appeared for B.Sc. Degree examination of recognized University in the state of Maharashtra are eligible for the entrance examination to be conducted by the University of Mumbai.

The candidate must have scored minimum 55% marks at B.Sc. examination.

The entrance examination cover subjects like Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Physics, Mathematics / Statistics at B.Sc. level of Mumbai University.

Duration of the course: (2 years)

Qualifying Examination:

Bachelor of Science in Zoology, Botany, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics of the Mumbai or any equivalent degree of the UGC recognized University/ Institutes.

There are 10 seats for M.Sc. Part - I Biotechnology course of which some seats are reserved for candidates belonging to SC/ST/DT/NT/OBC Category.

Maximum one seat is given to the candidates who passed B.Sc. from other University in Maharashtra, if selected.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Sc. (Bio-Chemistry) By Research

You should have B.Sc. with chemistry as principal subject Chemistry major (7/8 units) with Biochemistry(3 units)
OR
Must secure Minimum of 7 units in chemistry, 7 units in any biological science
OR
Secure 4 units in chemistry, 3 units in biochemistry and 7 units in any one of the biological science.
