1. International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
This is a test on English language skills. The duration of this test is 2.45 hours. This is required by Australia, Canada, Singapore, UK, New Zealand and a number of universities in the US. For study in Australia you need to clear this test.

There are two versions of the test -- Academic and General Training. It is owned and managed by the British Council, IDP Education Australia: IELTS Australia and Cambridge ESOL. IELTS Australia test centers have been opened in Chandigarh, Chennai and Bangalore. More information in this regard can be had from IDP India Country Director, Mr Henry AS Ledlie Ph: 01 1-26467535, 26284404 Fax: 91-1 1-26481262, 26440627 Email: henry.ledlie@idp.com.

2. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

This is also a test on English language skills for international students. Its duration is 4 hours. This is applicable in Canada and the US.

here are two versions of the IELTS: the Academic Version and the General Training Version:
The Academic Version is intended for those who want to enroll in universities and other institutions of higher education and for professionals such as medical doctors and nurses who want to study or practise in an English-speaking country.
The General Training Version is intended for those planning to undertake non-academic training or to gain work experience, or for immigration purposes.

IELTS is accepted by most Australian, British, Canadian, Irish, New Zealand and South African academic institutions, over 3,000 academic institutions in the United States, and various professional organisations. It is also a requirement for immigration to Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
No minimum score is required to pass the test. An IELTS result or Test Report Form is issued to all candidates with a score from 1 (no knowledge) to 9 (expert user) and each institution sets a different threshold. Institutions are advised not to consider valid a report older than two years, unless the user proves that he has worked to maintain his level.
In 2007, IELTS tested over a million candidates in a single 12-month period for the first time ever, making it the world's most popular English language test for higher education and immigration.

If we just compare TOEFL and IELTS than IELTS is much better and more acceptable in many countries.

HI amit23sing,
Yes IELTS is enough to get admission for engineer courses at Australia.

Fee structure is very high to study in Australia. You have to pay approx 30 lac for 2 years of MS course.
You can pay them in instalments like each sems fee on that perticular sem.
You can take poan from banks

good luck
