Default Want to Study in the Netherlands?

I need some source from where I can get the information about education system Netherlands. Give me the information in brief that is useful for students in Netherlands as well for students who have come from abroad to study in Netherlands.

The institutes of International education in the Netherlands offer advanced courses which are taught in .English both at the regular universities and the universities of professional education at various levels covering a wide range of fields, especially management studies, agricultural sciences, medicine, civil engineering, remote sensing, and the arts. There are in total 11 institutions of international education in the country. Students pursuing studies at the International Education in the Netherlands are allowed all the infrastructure facilities.

Over 1,150 international study programmes and courses are taught in English in the higher education institutions. These programmes cover a broad range of fields. While the medium of regular degree programmes is Dutch, for the international programmes and courses, it is necessary that you can speak, read and write English well. Passing and English language test such as TOEFL or IELTS with at least 500-550 for TOEFL or 5.5 for IELTS score is acceptable to the higher education institutions.

Admission requirements
To begin with, you have to contact the institution where you wish to get admission for studying a course of your choice to know about their admission requirements.

The main national requirement for admission to regular degree programmes comprises secondary school diploma at the appropriate level. The admission requirement for foreign students for bachelor's programme is a diploma assessed as equivalent to the minimum diploma required of Dutch students. For admission to a master's degree programme, foreign students must have at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. For student, registration you have to apply to the national office. The universities and hongescholen have also laid down additional requirements for some study programme-in the arts. Although there is variation in age requirements, most of the students are admitted to the first year at the age of 18 years and 22 or 23 at graduation level.

Degrees: Students are awarded a bachelor's degree upon completion of the undergraduate phase and a master's degree upon completion of the graduate phase. The degrees awarded by universities are distinct than those offered by the universities of professional education. Three years full time study is to be completed for a bachelor's degree by the university where the emphasis is on academic subjects. On the other hand, four years of full time study must be completed to earn a bachelor's degree from a university of professional education where the emphasis is on applied arts and sciences.

You require master's degree to pursue a doctorate. Four years of full time research under the supervision of a professor at a university and to write a dissertation based on your research project is required to earn a Ph.D.
Accreditation and quality control
The legislation relating to education in the Netherlands is the responsibility of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. A national system of regulation and quality assurance ensures high quality of education in the Netherlands.
The system of accreditation aims at guaranteeing that study programmes meet the highest standards. Under the system only programmes that meet all the criteria are accredited. Students who enrol in an accredited degree programme qualify for financial support.

Preparing for study in the Netherlands
The process for preparations for admission in the Netherland should start
at least a year in advance. If you intend to apply for scholarship for visa,
you should initiate action even earlier. The academic year in the
Netherlands runs from the end of August to the middle to June.
Visa is required to go to the Netherlands for study.
