What is the minimum age limit to sit for Tax Assitant exam conducted by SSC for year 2012? What all documents are required to be submitted along with the application form? If somebody is working with any other govt. department then what are formalities to apply for this?

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts an open competitive examination for recruitment to the post of Tax Assistant (a Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted, Ministerial post) for filling up vacancies in various Commissionerates of Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and Central Board of Excise & Customs (CBEC).

Age Limit:
Your age should be in between 20-27 years

Educational Qualification:
You should have Graduation degree from any recognized university

Nationality
You should be
-a citizen of India, or
- a subject of Nepal, or
- a subject of Bhutan, or
- a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January,1962,with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar),Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Syllabus of Examination

PAPER I -(OBJECTIVE TYPE)


Part A:

General English:

Questions in this component will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on error recognition, fill in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles etc), Vocabulary, Spellings, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Completion, Phrases and Idiomatic use of Words, etc.

Part B:

General Awareness:

Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidate's General Awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Sports, Literature, Scientific Research, Basics/fundamentals of Computer, etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

Paper-II -(Conventional):

Arithmetic: This paper will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, use of Tables and Graphs, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Time and Work, etc.

Name the test centers where Tax Assistant (Income Tax & Central Excise Depts.) Examination 2012 is going to take place? Which book will you suggest me for preparation of this exam? Where should I send the filled application form?

Please confirm whether Tax Assistant Examination is conducted as a separate Exam OR is the above mentioned exam is merged with the Combine Graduate Level Exam conducted by SSC. If TAE is conducted separately, please advise details for same like exam notification, exam date.
