Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), is a rank used by police forces in India. It was also used by the British Empire. The rank is higher than Assistant superintendent and is equivalent to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in the commissionerate system In order to become a DSP, you will need to join and serve the IPS as an SP for couple of years. To join IPS, you will need to appear for Civil Service Examination Civil Service Exam : The Civil Services Examination is a nationwide competitive examination in India conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various Civil Services of the Government of India, Eligibility: 1. The minimum educational qualification required is a degree from a recognised university in any stream. Age limit: min max General- 21yrs. 30 yrs. OBC - 21 yrs 33 yrs. SC/ST - 21 yrs. 35 yrs. Examination Format Preliminary exam syllabus: General Studies 150 marks Optional Subject 300 marks All the questions will be of objective type and list of optional subjects are as follows: Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Geography, Geology, Indian History, Law, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Statistics and Zoology.
