The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are a gathering of independent open restorative schools of advanced education. These establishments have been pronounced by an Act of Parliament as Institutes of National Importance. AIIMS Delhi, the fore-sprinter parent greatness foundation, was set up in 1956.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2012

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2012, was presented in the Lok Sabha on 27 August 2012. This bill will likewise supplant a current Ordinance which permitted the six AIIMS-like foundations to end up plainly operational from September 2012. Lok Sabha passed the AIIMS (Amendment) Bill, 2012 on 30 August 2012. The proposed measure will help the Center change the status of the six new AIIMS enlisted under the Indian Societies Registration Act to be independent body corporate on the lines of the current AIIMS in Delhi.AIIMS (Amendment) Bill,2012 was presented in Rajya Sabha on 3 September 2012. Rajya Sabha passed the AIIMS (Amendment) Bill, 2012 on 4 September 2012.

Future AIIMS

On July 2014, in the spending discourse for 2014-15, the Minister of Finance Arun Jaitley declared a financial plan of Rs.500 crore (equal to Rs.559 crore or US$87 million of every 2016) for setting up four new AIIMS, in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, the Vidarbha area of Maharashtra and the Purvanchal district in Uttar Pradesh. These four "Stage IV" organizations, are to end up AIIMS Mangalagiri in Andhra Pradesh, AIIMS Nagpur in Maharashtra, AIIMS Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and AIIMS Kalyani in West Bengal.

On 28 February 2015, in the 2015-2016 spending discourse, Jaitley reported five more AIIMS, in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Assam and Tamil Nadu and an "AIIMS-like" foundation in Bihar. On 7 November 2015, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi had declared advancement bundle for Jammu and Kashmir which incorporates the setting up of two AIIMS, in the capital urban communities of Jammu and Kashmir. Of these seven "Stage V" organizations, locales have been relegated for at Changsari in Assam, Vijay Pur in the Jammu Division of Jammu and Kashmir, Awantipora in the Kashmir Division of Jammu and Kashmir[15] and Bathinda in Punjab. No locales weres doled out yet for the organizations in Bihar, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

On 1 February 2017, in the spending introduction for 2017-2017, Jaitley reported two more AIIMS, in Jharkhand and Gujarat. Of the two "Stage VI" organizations, a site in Deoghar was appointed for the establishment in Jharkhand, however no site was yet relegated in Gujarat.
