Can you tell me about the establishment year of CRPF or Central Reserve Police Force in India? Also tell me about the weapons used by CRPF or Central Reserve Police Force in India? The CRPF or Central Reserve Police Force came into existence as Crown Representative’s Police on 27th July 1939. It became the Central Reserve Police Force on enactment of the CRPF Act on 28th December 1949. It is the largest of India's Central Armed Police Forces which functions under the aegis of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India. Its primary role lies in assisting the State/Union Territories in police operations to maintain law and order and counter insurgency. The Force has grown into a big organization with 235 Bns, (including 203 executive Bns, 5 Mahila Bns, 10 RAF Bns, 10 CoBRA Bns, 5 Signal Bns and 1 Special Duty Group, 1 Parliament Duty Group), 42 Group Centres, 20 Training Institutions, 3 CWS, 7 AWS, 3 SWS, 4 Composite Hospitals of 100 bed and 17 Composite Hospitals of 50 bed. With 230 battalions and various other establishments, the CRPF is considered India's largest paramilitary force. It has completed 76 years of glorious history. DCP Assistant Commandant (AC): Group A Gazetted Officer DSP/ACP Weapons CRPF uses basic Infantry weapons which are manufactured indigenously at the Indian Ordnance Factories under control of the Ordnance Factories Board: Pistol Auto 9mm 1A and Glock 17 9 mm pistols Heckler & Koch MP5 replacing the Carbine 1A 9 mm sub-machine guns INSAS 5.56 mm assault rifles INSAS 5.56 mm light machine guns replacing the Bren L4 machine guns CRPF CoBRA personnel AGS-30 Plamya 30 mm automatic grenade launcher AKM for counter-insurgency Tavor TAR-21 Micro Tavor (X95) Bullpup.
