The Department of Elementary Education, Government of Assam conducts Teacher Eligibility Test for Siksha Mitras (SM) and Additional Siksha Mitras (ASM). The Assam SM/ASM TET is to be conducted for current Siksha Mitras and Additional Siksha Mitras to qualify them to teach Lower Primary classes i.e. Class I-V within the state of Assam. Only candidates having served as SM/ASM in any of the EGS centres are eligible for SM/ASM TET. Eligibility One should be a permanent resident of Assam and have completed Class 12 or equivalent with minimum 50% marks and have a 2 year Diploma in Education or 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education or a 4 year Bachelor degree in Elementary Education. One having completed graduation from any UGC recognized university are exempted from the percentage requirement at Class 12 level. Paper Pattern The SM/ASM TET exam consists of multiple choice questions worth 1 mark each, divided into 5 sections. No negative marking is applicable. The various sections are: 1. Child Development and Pedagogy 2. Language I (Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Hindi, Hmar, Karbi, Nepali, Manipuri, Garo or Alternative English) 3. Language II - English 4. Mathematics 5. Environmental Studies Selection Process Those candidates who score 60% marks or more than 60% then that one will be declared qualified for Assam TET.
