Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (ATET) is conducted by Government of Assam, Department of School Education, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) for the candidates aspiring to become teachers in primary (Class I-V) and upper primary (VI-VIII) schools in the state of Assam.

Assam TET Eligibility Criteria

For Graduate Teachers in Secondary Schools-


BA/B.Sc/ B.Com with 50% marks with B.T./ B.Ed. degree from any recognized university.

Hindi Teacher: Pravin/ Ratna in Hindi with 50% marks having degree qualification from any recognized university or B.A with Hindi as one of the subject with 50% marks and B.T / B. Ed. degree from any recognized University.

Classical Teacher (Sanskrit):- Shastri with 50% marks having degree qualification from any recognized University or B.A with Sanskrit as one of the subjects with 50% marks and B.T/ B.Ed degree from any recognized University.

Classical Teacher such as Arabic, Urdu, Persian etc:- MM with 50% marks with degree qualification from any recognized University or B.A with Arabic as one of the subjects with 50% marks and B.T./B.Ed. from any recognized University.

Classical Teacher (Assamese Language, Manipuri Language):- B.A with Honours/ Major in concerned subject with 50% marks and B.T. /B.Ed. degree from any recognized University

Age of the candidate should not be above 38 years. Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

For Post Graduate Teachers in Secondary/ Senior Secondary Schools:

Masters degree (MA/M.Sc./M.Com) with minimum 50% marks in relevant subject with B.T./B.Ed degree from any recognized University.

Age of the candidate should not be above 38 years. Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
Age relaxation is applicable as per govt. Office Memorandum as applicable.

Application Form Cost

The cost of the application form is Rs.400/- (Rupees Four Hundred only).

Assam TET Selection Process

Selection will be made on the basis of a candidate’s performance in Written Examination and Interview.

Assam TET Exam pattern-

The examination shall be for 100 marks of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each one of them carrying equal marks.

The subject areas broadly are as follows.

Sl. No - Subject - Number of Questions - Marks

1 - General Studies & Current Affairs - 50 MCQs - 50 marks

2 - Subject Specific - 50 MCQs - 50 marks

Total Marks - 100 marks
