The director of the Institute is Ratnam V. Raja Kumar. He was born in Machilipatnam, India. He received BE degree from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, topping all branches of engineering in 1980, M. Tech., and Ph.D., in 1982 and 1987 respectively from IIT Kharagpur, all in Electronics and Communication Engineering.
