ISM to IIT alludes the development began by the understudies of ISM Dhanbad went for persuading the Government of India, the need to change over ISM Dhanbad into an IIT. On 25 May 2016, the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Modi endorsed that a bill be presented in Parliament for changing over ISM Dhanbad into an IIT. On 19 July 2016 the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Bill, 2016 was brought into the Lok Sabha. It was passed by the Lok Sabha without resistance on 25 July 2016. The Rajya Sabha collectively passed the Bill on 2 August 2016.The Bill has the Presidential consent and a Gazzete warning has been made, subsequently authoritatively changing over ISM Dhanbad to Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad. The choice to update the ISM is being seen as a bane and also a shelter for the 90-year-old organization. Executive D.D. Mishra said the IIT status would keep the foundation from opening an off-grounds in Visakhapatnam, notwithstanding the Chandrababu Naidu government offering 300 sections of land for the reason.
