The Jadavpur University is provides its one of the water testing centers. A Centre for Water Resources Engineering started functioning as an interdisciplinary group in R&D activities in June, 1983.

After the appointment of a Professor of Water Resources Engineering a Water Resources Engineering was started.

From its formation, the Centre was associated with the Departments of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical Engineering and Geological Sciences.
