Hey as Bath Spa University is a university based in, and around, Bath,
England. The institution was previously known as Bath College of Higher
Education, and later Bath Spa University College.

Disabled Students' Allowances

Disabled Students' Allowances (DSAs) are extra help for students who have a
disability, a mental-health or medical condition, Asperger syndrome or a
specific learning difficulty like dyslexia or dyspraxia

Disabled Students' Allowances provide

Specialist equipment, like computer software

Non-Medical Helpers, like specialist study skills support or a mentor

Extra travel costs you have to pay because of your disability

Other disability-related costs of studying

Students with a DSA

Students with a DSA may have a range of additional support recommended,
which is intended to give them the same access to the learning environment
as their non-disabled peers. This can include:

A ‘non-medical helper’ [At BSU these roles are commonly referred to as
Academic Support Workers, ASWs], which can take the form of one to one
mentoring, academic support, sign language interpreter;

Special conditions or arrangements, such as extra time or sitting exams in a
smaller room;

Equipment;

An allowance for photocopying and printing;

A taxi allowance, where a student is unable to use public transport.
