The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) is a medical school in India, and the oldest to teach European medicine in Asia.

It is located at Pondicherry, the capital of the union territory of Puducherry, in southern India.

Here I am providing you details of JIPMER MBBS

Total number of seats offered in JIPMER MBBS

Candidates from Pondicherry state:

Total (40 seats); General – 23 seats, SCs – 6 seats, OBCs – 11 seats


Candidates from other state:

Total (105 seats); General – 50 seats, SCs – 16 seats, OBCs – 28 seats, STs – 11 seats


Remaining five seats will be reserved for the OCI/ BRI (under self-financing scheme) applicants.

Eligibility Criteria

-The applicants should have completed 17 years of their age as on or before the 31st December of examination year.

-The applicants should have qualified the 10+2/Senior Secondary or its correspondent examination from a recognized board or university with Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as major subjects.

-The applicants should have scored minimum 50% marks in the qualifying examination (40% for candidates belonging to reserved category such as ST/SC/OBC/PH). The candidates who are pursuing in last year of qualifying examination or waiting for their results can also apply for it.

Application Fee
The candidates belonging to general and OBC categories have to pay Rs. 1000/- as JIPMER MBBS Application fee
The candidates belonging to SC/ST categories have to pay Rs. 880/- as applicable application fee.

Online registration ends: 4th May, 2016
Exam date: 5th June, 2016
