The Union Public Service Commission is responsible to recruit the qualified candidates into Indian Civil Service. Following posts come under the UPSC entrance examination:

Indian Administrative Service
India Foreign Service
Indian Police Service
Indian Audit and Accounts Service
Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise)
Indian Defence Accounts Service
Indian Revenue Service (I.T.)

Whereas Staff Selection Commission have the responsibility to make recruitment to the technical and non-technical posts in the Government of India.

Following posts come under the SSC examinations:
Assistants in Ministries/Departments, Attached and Subordinate office of the Govt. of India.
Inspectors of Central Excise & Customs.
Inspectors of Income Tax.
Preventive Officers in Customs.
Examiner in Customs.
Sub-Inspectors in Delhi Police & CBI.
Sub-Inspectors in BSF, CRPF, ITBP and CISF.
Divisional Accountant, Jr. Accountant, Auditor & UDCs in various offices of Govt. of India.
