Eligibility Criteria:
You have to pass graduation in any discipline from a well recognized university.

Age limit :
OBC candidate age limit maximum : 33 years.
The candidate must be between 21-30 years of age.
SC/ST have 5 years of age relaxation.

Important dates :
Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2014
Notification Date : 17th May 2014
Last dates for Applications : 16th June 2014
Examination will be held on : 24th August 2014

Civil Services Main Exam 2014
Examination will be held on : 14th December 2014

I wanted to prepare for the IAS Examination please provide me the basic details of the examination and also provide me the syllabus or question paper of preliminary Examination

as per your question here I am providing you the basic details of the IAS Entrance Examination . The Indian Administrative Service is one of the CIVIL service examination of the Government of India. the examination is conducted by the UPSC every year.

Eligibility Criteria:

Age limit :
one should be in between the Age of 21 to 30.

Age Relaxation is given upto a maximum of five years for the candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe. and upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.

The the IAS Entrance Examionation has two Exam papers:
Preliminary Examination
Main Examination


the preliminary examination has two sections :
first is about the General Knowledge and Courrent affsairs of india
English Comprehensive and reasoning

the syllabus of the preliominary examination is given below:

Current events of national and international importance. History of India and Indian National Movement. Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World. Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc. Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc. General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialisation General Science.
