There is a Scheme for Support for Minority Students clearing Prelims conducted by Union Public Service Commission. The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial support to the minority candidates clearing prelims conducted by Union Public Service Commission to adequately equip them to compete for appointment to Civil Services and to increase the representation of the minority in the Civil Services by giving direct financial support to candidates clearing Preliminary Examination

Implementing Agency and Eligibility:
Ministry of Minority Affairs will be the implementing agency and only candidates belonging to Minority Communities who clear the Prelim examinations conducted by UPSC.

Candidates who fulfill all other eligibility criteria and conditions will be considered for financial support under the scheme.

Eligibility criteria and conditions of the Scheme will be as follows:
- The candidate should belong to one of the Minority Communities notified under Section 2 (C ) of National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992 and should have passed the Prelims Examination conducted by UPSC
- Total family income of the candidates from all sources should not exceed Rs. 4.5 lakh per annum
- The financial support can be availed by a candidate only once.
-In case the candidate decides to opt for other Schemes; he/she will have to forgo the claim from this Ministry and refund the amount if already availed with 10% interest.

Cost/Number of Beneficiaries:
-Every year up to a maximum of 800 candidates will be given financial support under the scheme throughout the country
-Selection of the candidates will be based on merit in case of limited number of slots available for any particular community.

Terms and Conditions for Candidates
- The candidate should submit the proof of passing of preliminary examination conducted by Union Public Services Commission. This consists of Roll Number slip, Identity Card and Result.
- The candidate should submit the proof of income of the family from the all sources -The annual Income Certificate should be issued by a Competent Authority as may deem fit by State Government/UT Administration.
-The candidate should submit Affidavit / Certificate for community proof to be issued by the Competent Authority.

Funding Pattern

-100% financial support will be provided to the selected candidates through a Nationalized Bank as this is a Central Sector Scheme (CSS).
-Payment will be through ECS/RTGS/Cheque/e-payment Aadhar number will be mandatory for candidates coming from 121 DBT Districts presently.

The following scholarships/Financial Assistance are tenable at the National Defence Academy.

Scholarship
1. Parashuram Bhau Patwardhan Scholarship

Eligibility:
Domicile of Maharashtra and Karnataka
Parent’s income is between Rs. 350.00 and 500.00 per month

The value of the scholarship is equal to the Government financial assistance.

2. Colonel Kendal Frank Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility:
Maratha Cadet
Son of an ex-serviceman

The value of scholarship is Rs. 360.00 per annum

3. Kaur Singh Memorial Scholarship

Two scholarships

Eligibility:
Top two Cadets who obtain the highest position amongst candidates from BIHAR

The value of each scholarship is Rs. 37.00 per month.

4. Assam Government Scholarship
Two scholarships

Eligibility:
Top two Cadets from ASSAM
The value of each scholarship is Rs. 30.00 per month

NDA Scholarships and Financial Assistance
NDA Scholarships and Financial Assistance

The following scholarships/Financial Assistance are tenable at the National Defence Academy.

Parashuram Bhau Patwardhan Scholarship

Eligibility:
Domicile of Maharashtra and Karnataka
Parents income is between Rs. 350.00 and 500.00 per month from all sources.
The value of the scholarship is equal to the Government financial assistance.
Restrictions/Conditions:
Only for the duration of a Cadet’s stay in the National Defence Academy and other Pre-commission training establishment.
It is subject to the Cadet’s good conduct and satisfactory progress in the training.
Parents income remaining below the prescribed limit.
Cadets who are granted this scholarship, will not be entitled to any other financial assistance from the Government.
