Yes, one can apply after 10+2 in Indian Railways through Special Class Railway Apprentices (SCRA) Examination

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Special Class Railway Apprentices Examination to select candidates for the appointment as Special Class Apprentices in Mechanical Department of Indian Railways.

SCRA Exam Eligibility
-You must have attained the age of 17 years and must not have attained the age of 21 years
-Age relaxations will be applicable as per rules.
-You must have passed in the first or second division, the Intermediate or an equivalent Examination of a University or Board with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.
-Graduates with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as their degree subjects.

Selection Process:
You will be selected on the basis of Written Examination and Interview.

Exam Pattern of SCRA Entrance Exam:
Paper I General Ability Test 120 Minutes 200 Marks
Paper II Physical Sciences 120 Minutes 200 Marks
Paper III Mathematics 120 Minutes 200 Marks
Total 600 Marks

Educational Qualification:

Candidates who are keen to apply for East Central Railway Recruitment must hold the following qualification:

For Group ‘C’: 12th pass with 50% marks or its equivalent or advanced education.

For Group ‘D’: 10th Pass or ITI or equivalent or advanced education.

Group ‘C’ 18 to 29 years Rs. 5200/to Rs.20200 and Grade Pay of Rs. 1900 / 2000

Examination Fee

The examination fee to be paid through Indian Postal Order will be Rs. 100/only.


Selection process:

Qualified job applicants will have to go in Written Test (50 Marks), Scout & Guide qualification (35 Marks) and Character Test / Interview (15 Marks).

Last Selection of job searchers for East Central Railway Recruitment will be done on basis of candidate’s performance in personal interview which will be conducted by the choice penal of association. No TA/ DA will be reimbursed to candidates.
