Indian Administrative Services (IAS) Exam is conducted by UPSC once every year.

Yes, you can appear for Indian Administrative Services (IAS) Exam as its eligibility states that Candidates from any stream, i.e. Arts, Science or Commerce, with a degree are eligible for the civil service examination.

Eligibility Criteria for IAS Exam

Educational Qualifications
You must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

Age Limits:
-You must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on the 1st August of the year in which examination is being held.

The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable :
-upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST)
-upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.
-upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989.
-upto a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof.
-upto a maximum of five years in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st August, 2012 and have been released .

Nationality:
You must be either:
A citizen of India, or
A subject of Nepal, or
A subject of Bhutan, or
A Tibetan refugee who came over to India with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Physical Requirements--

Height:
Male candidate’s height should be 165 cm
Female candidate’s height should be 150 cm

Chest:
Male Candidates 84 cm & expansion 5 cm
Female Candidates 79 cm & expansion 5 cm

Number of Attempts:
General category 4
Physically handicapped belonging to general category 7
Other backward classes 7
SC/ST candidates Unlimited

Yes, You can appear in IAS Exam.

Candidates who want to become an IAS Exam, they have following requirements:

They have to appear in UPSC Civil Service Exam.

PRE EXAM
Tentative Schedule
Notification of Examination November/December of previous year
Conduct of Examination May

Age Limit

Exam Scheme
General Studies Paper - I 200 Marks
General Studies Paper - II 200 Marks

MAIN EXAM

Exam Scheme
Paper-I One of the Indian Languages to be selected by the candidate from the 18 languages included in the VIIIth Schedule to the Constitution (Qualifying Paper)
300 Marks
Paper-II English (Qualifying Paper) 300 Marks

Paper-III Essay 200 Marks

Papers IV & V General Studies (300 Marks for each paper) 600 Marks

Papers VI, VII, VIII & IX
Any two subjects (each having 2 papers) to be selected from the prescribed optional subjects (300 marks for each paper) 1200 Marks

Total Marks for Written Examination 2000 Marks
Interview Test 300 Marks
Grand Total 2300 Marks
