Indian Engineering Services (IES) Exam is a combined competitive examination which is conducted by the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) for recruitment to the Indian Engineering Services.

Minimum Eligibility for IES

Nationality:

You must be either:
-A citizen of India, or
- a subject of Nepal, or
- a subject of Bhutan, or
- a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
- a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Limits:
-Your age should be Minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years
- Upper age limit of 30 years is relaxable upto 35 years in the case of Government Servants of certain categories.

Educational Qualifications:

You must have any one of the following qualifications:

- Degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or
- Passed Section A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India); or
- Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India); or
- Passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India; or
- Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November, 1959.
- Obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/College/Institution and under such conditions as may be recognised by the Government for the purpose from time to time, or

Indian Engineering Service (IES) eligibility criteria is very detailed and is sketched by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), as it is the governing body for IES.

Nationality:

The candidates applying for IES must either be an Indian Citizen or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan.

A Tibetan refugee who made India as permanent base before January 1st, 1962

A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Vietnam, and Ethiopia etc.

The candidate mentioned in 2nd, 3rd and with subject to Nepal and Bhutan have to produce a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

Age Limit:


The minimum age attained by the candidate is 21 years and the maximum is 30 years.

The upper age limit is relaxed in case of Government servants and it is 35 years but the candidate has to be an employee of any department or office under any authority like Railway Department, Central Public Works Department, Military Engineer Service department etc.

Educational Requirements or Qualifications:


A candidate must have an Engineering degree from a University that is recognized in India.

The candidate must have passed a Graduate Membership examination of the institute of electronic and Telecommunication of India

OR

One must have obtained a degree/ diploma in Engineering from such foreign institute/ university and under such condition as may be recognizable in the eye of Government for the purpose from time to time

OR

One must have passed Associate Membership examination part II and III/ Sections A and B of the Aeronautical society of India

OR

One must have passed graduate Membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November, 1959 are required to be in the eligibility criteria of IES 2015.

Physical Standards:


The candidates applying must be physically and mentally fit as per the physical standards laid by UPSC with regard to the IES eligibility criteria.
