Indian Police Service officers in India as a result the high attrition in the Indian Police Service, the Ministry of Home Affairs proposed the formation of Indian Police Service Limited Competitive Examination to be conducted by UPSC.

Eligibility Criteria for IPS

Qualification Required:

Candidates who want to apply for IPS should have Degree in any discipline from any University recognized by Government.

Age Limit

Minimum age is 21 years
Maximum age is 30 years (33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs)

IPS Exam Syllabus

IPS Exam consists of total 9 papers based on different topics which are mentioned below:

Paper I: Language Exam
Paper II: General English
Paper III: Essay
Paper IV and V: General Studies
Paper VI, VII, VIII and IX: Optional Subjects

General English

Comprehension
Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
Logical reasoning and analytical ability
Decision making and problem solving
General mental ability
Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. — Class X level)
English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level)

Essay

Candidates will have to write two Essays. One topic will relate to Indian Society/politics/ Economy/Development, Growth and relevant phases. The other topic will relate to security and related stuffs.

General Studies

Current events of national and international importance
History of India and Indian National Movement
Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
Indian Polity and Governance
Economic and Social Development-Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization
General Science.

As per your need, I am giving you eligibility Criteria for Indian police Services (IPS) exam.

IPS Exam conducts by the Union Public Services commission once in every year.

Eligibility Criteria:

Nationality:

Candidate must be citizen of India or equivalent

Age:

The Candidate age should be between 21 years to 30 years. 5 years relaxations given to SC/ST Categories students and 3 years relaxations given to OBC Categories.

Education qualifications:

Candidate should have done Graduation degree in any discipline form any recognized university. Candidates who are in final year may also eligible to apply.

Numbers of attempts:

General Category Candidates and OBC Category Candidates under the Creamy layer = 6 attempts
OBC Category Candidates = 9 attempts
SC/ST Candidates = Unlimited

Important dates for IPS 2015:

Opening Date for Online Application 16th May 2015
Last Date to Submit Application 12th June 2015
UPSC Civil Services Exam Date 23rd August 2015
