Probationary Officer (PO) is the entry level position in the officer cadre in banking industry. The Examination eligibility criteria are as following:

Eligibility:
The applicant should have completed graduation with minimum 50-60% marks.

Age
Age requirement in most Bank PO exam is 21 to 30 years

Nationality
A candidate must be either
• A citizen of India or
• A subject of Nepal or
• A subject of Bhutan or
• A Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
• A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam

Bank PO salary:
Basic Salary Rs.14,500.00
Dearness Allowance (99.99%) Rs.14,458.50
CCA(4% max Rs.540=) Rs. 540.00
HRA (Major A class cities - 8.5%, Other places in Area I -7.5%, Other places - 6.5%) Rs.1,232.50
Total Rs. 30,758.00

Banks Probationary Officers Examination Details

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

Indian

Qualification

Minimum qualification is Graduation. However banks also prescribe minimum 55 to 60% marks in graduation as eligibility criteria. The minimum required marks can also be different for science, commerce and arts stream. Further there is relaxations for reserved category

Age

Age requirement in most Bank PO exam is 21 to 30 years. This is relaxed up to 5 years for reserved categories.

Banks Probationary Officers Examination

The test is objective type but the test pattern varies from bank to bank.

In general, the test has about 200-225 multiple choice questions of five options each with single correct answer and 0.25% negative marking for questions attempted incorrectly.

The test duration varies from two hours to two hours and 15 minutes

Final selection:

The marks of Group Discussion and SBI Bank PO Interview are put together and the candidates who score at least 40% marks (at least 35% in case of SC / ST / OBC / PWD) in group discussion and interview will be considered for final selection.

The candidate has to pass both in Phase I & II separately.

Phase I & Phase II marks are aggregated and arranged in descending order (category wise) for candidates who have qualified in both the phases separately and depending on the Latest PO Vacancies in SBI Bank, selection is made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category.
