Maximum number of attempts for MCA, regular student (Mumbai University)?

Hello people,

I'm currently pursuing MCA from a college in Mumbai, affiliated to Mumbai university. I'm currently in the 3rd year with 1 year drop. I've heard that MCA should be completed within 5 years from the date of admission. If not, this post graduate degree will stand cancelled. I'm hearing mixed opinions on this. I've gone to the university and asked people in the concerned departments, but all i've got is mixed opinions. And my college suggests the degree will be cancelled post 5 years, but they're aren't very sure. Can anyone put some light on this?
