The IPS (Indian Police Service) is conducted by UPSC every year, it is counted among the top three civil services in India. IPS Eligibility Age limit The applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Qualification: The applicant should have a graduate degree in any discipline of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification. The Candidates who are in the final semester or have taken their final degree exam but are awaiting the results can also appear for IPS Preliminary exam. Paper Pattern; IPS Exam consists of total 9 papers based on different topics which are mentioned below: Paper I: Language Exam Paper II: General English Paper III: Essay Paper IV and V: General Studies Paper VI, VII, VIII and IX: Optional Subjects

Here, I am giving you details to become an Indian Police Services (IPS) officer. Union Public Service commission hires candidates for the Indian Police Services officer through written exams and interview. The recruitment process held in once in year. Eligibility: Candidate need to hold the at least bachelors degree in any discipline form any recognized university, the candidates who are in final year may also eligible to apply. Age Criteria: Candidate age should be between the 21 years to 30 years, 3 years and 5 years age relaxations given to OBC and SC/ST candidates respectively. Nationality: A citizen of India, or A subject of Nepal, or A subject of Bhutan, or A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or A person of Indian origin equivalent. Steps to become an IPS officer. Step 1: The very first step to become an IPS officer is Civil services preliminary exam. Civil services preliminary exam is an objective type paper for total 400 marks. It contains two papers. Paper 1: 200 marks, objective type questions form following topics: Current events of national and international importance History of India and Indian national movement Indian and World Geography- physical, social, economic geography of India and the world Indian Polity and governance – constitution, political system, panchayati raj, public policy, Rights issues, etc. Economic and social development – sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives etc. General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change-that do not require subject specialization General science. Paper 2; 200 marks, objective type questions form following topics; Comprehension Interpersonal skills including communication skills Logical reasoning and analytical ability Decision making and problem solving General mental ability Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. –Class X level) English language comprehension skills (Class X level) Step 2: Candidates who clear the Civil services preliminary exam will be eligible to apply for the civil services mains exam. Civil Services Mains Exam: This exam contains approx 9 subject’s form this candidate can 4 options subjects.
