Minimum requirements to get admission in Mtech programme of IIT is follows- Candidates need to qualify in GATE and - Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture from educational Institutions approved by AICTE/Government. or - Master's degree in Chemistry / Life Science / Mathematics / Physics / related subjects from educational Institutions approved by UGC/ Government or - Degrees obtained through Distance Education/Correspondence Mode for the qualifying degree specified in (i) and (ii). The Departments will follow test/interview procedure for screening in such cases. - Candidates yet to appear or have appeared in the final examination for the qualifying degree specified in [(i) or (ii)] and whose results are likely to be declared by 15-07-,or Associate Membership holders of the professional bodies for admission into their parent disciplines from the following: - The Institution of Engineers (India) (AMIE) - The Aeronautical Society of India (AMAeSI) (eligible only for aerodynamics, structures and propulsions streams) - The Indian Institute of Metals (AMIM) - The Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, including Polymer and Environmental Group (AMIIChemE) - The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (AMIETE).

Eligibility: Candidate with bachelor’s degree with at least 60% marks from recognized institute. Candidate have valid GATE Score card. Eligibility according to stream Computer Science & Engineering Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent in an appropriate area or MSc (Computer Science/Information Technology) or MCA from a recognized Institution and a valid GATE score in CS or IT Electronics & Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering or Equivalent or MSc(Electronics) and a valid GATE score in EC/EE Mechanical Engineering Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology in an appropriate area and a valid GATE score in ME Civil Engineering Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology in an appropriate area and a valid GATE score in CE Chemical Engineering Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology in an appropriate area and a valid GATE score in Chemical Engineering Biotechnology Master’s degree in Science or 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with biology or related subjects as one of the papers at the 10+2 level or later, along with a valid GATE score (for candidates with BE/BTech degree) / valid NET certificate or GATE score (for candidates with MSc degree).
