HKUST Transfer Admission

Can you provide me the information regarding the transfer admissions at Hkust?

HKUST or Hong Kong University of Science and Technology welcomes students from diverse backgrounds for its graduate and post graduate Programmes.

There is no separate application form for post-secondary qualification holders or university transfer students as the university do not have a separate quota for such category. All applicants applying with post-secondary qualifications/university transfer should submit the same application form as fresh undergraduates.

In order general admissions requirements you should.

- Graduation from high school, and;
- SAT Reasoning Test with a combined score of 1800 or above (in one sitting) or ACT plus Writing with a composite score of 27 or above (in one sitting), and;
i) Three SAT Subject Tests, each with a score of 600 or above, or;
ii) American College Board Advanced Placement in three subjects, each with score of grade 3 or above.

Will you tell me what will be the admission requirement for Transfer Admission at HKUST University?

HKUST University approved a credit transfer admission for students.

Students may be granted up to 30 transfer credits which will count towards the minimum graduation requirement of 120 credits of our 4-year programs

Admission requirement:

For Applicant admitted on the basis of IB Diploma or GCEAL or IAL or Singapore-Cambridge AL requirement:

Common Core Credits
block transfer of 9 Common Core credits

English Communication Credits
6 transfer credits in English Communication provided that they have attained the specified language proficiency (see indicators below)

Subject-specific Credits
Applicant will be granted advanced credit depending on the subject(s) taken and the grade/score attainments in the respective public examinations


For students admitted on the basis of American Patterned qualification, with AP:

Applicant admitted on the basis of American patterned qualification with AP subjects may apply for transfer credits based on their English proficiency and AP subject attainments .

For students demonstrating a high level of English Proficiency:

Applicant admitted who demonstrate a specified level of English proficiency will be granted 6 transfer credits for English Communication .

Specified English proficiency test score :
IELTS
Band 7.0 or above (with minimum 6.5 in all sub-skills)

TOEFL (IBT)
100 points or above (with 24 or above in writing)

AP
Score of 4 or above in English / Literature

GCE
Grade A or above in English (A-Level or AS-Level)
