There are many institutes in Johannesburg which are providing courses in the creative writing. One such course provider is University of Witwatersrand which was established in the year of 1896 and is a multi campus South African public research university.
Various programs run by the University along with their eligibility criteria are given below:
BA honours in creative writing
For this the applicant needs a BA degree in literature, languages or a cognate discipline, with at least 65% average in the final year, or 65% average across literary, writing and cognate courses.

MA in Creative Writing
For this applicant must have an Honours degree in literary studies, journalism or drama.

PHD in creative writing
For this applying candidate must have an MA in Literature or Creative Writing and should have published at least one book of writing in a creative-writing genre (fiction or non-fiction) through a reputable publisher; or a substantial body of work (short stories, essays etc) in prestigious journals or anthologies.
