The three Studio Art portfolios (2-D Design, 3-D Design, and Drawing) share a basic, three-section structure, which requires you to show a fundamental competence and range of understanding in visual concerns (and methods). Each section contributes equally to the final grade.

Section I: Quality
Select works that best exhibit a synthesis of form, technique, and content
5 actual works; maximum size is 18" x 24"
The works submitted may come from the Concentration and/or Breadth sections, but they do not have to. They may be a group of related works, unrelated works, or a combination of related and unrelated works.

Section II: Concentration
Demonstrate a depth of investigation and process of discovery
12 images; some may be details

Section III: Breadth
Demonstrate a serious grounding in visual principles and material techniques
12 works; one image of each is submitted

To access the AP Studio Art Digital Submission Web application effectively, users
are required to use the operating systems and browsers listed below . Users are not
Restricted to specific hardware configurations; however, it should be noted that slower
Response times may result from using older computer hardware .

AP Studio Art is a series of Advanced Placement Courses divided into three different categories: AP Studio Art Drawing, AP Studio Art 2D Design, and AP Studio Art 3D Design.

Section I: Quality: A student submits 5 actual artwork to the AP College Board that represent the student's quality of technique and their design concepts.

Section II: Concentration: A student submits 12 different slides that demonstrate the student's ability to paint and draw a variety of pieces that relate to 1 idea. These are arranged in a special order on slide coverings from College Board. Starting 2009, an online application replaced the use of physical slides and associated documents.

Section III: Breadth: A student submits 12 additional and different slides that demonstrate the student's ability to incorporate drawing techniques and issues that include drawing from observation, work with inverted or nonobjective forms, effective use of light and shade, line quality, surface manipulation, composition, various spatial systems, and expressive mark-making.

There are arranged similar to Section II. Starting 2009, an online application replaced the use of physical slides and associated documents.
