Dr. Sampurnanad, the then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, had the vision and foresight of conceiving the idea. Playing a pioneering role, he established a School at Lucknow as early as in 1960. The U P Sainik School has the distinction of having given more than 800 officers to the defence forces.
The School is affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi.
