I'm in final year of Engineering. Electronics & Communications.Thinking about giving a shot for Civil Services.I've few question which I believe only you people can give good genuine answers. You'd be a total life saver if you do.

Question 1::Why choosing engineering or science as optional in mains is not recommended ??One reason I heard that materials are not available. I guess, thats not a big deal.Few say, its not scoring. Why is that ??Few say, engineering & sciences go out of syllabus. Is that true ??I'm thinking about considering Electrical & Physics as optionals. What do you think ??

Question 2::What is this propositional representation rule ??From what I understand is that if I choose the optional which was choosen by many makes my chances of getting rank is greater.Am I right ??What I meant to ask was ..Does the UPSC have any scale or rule to pick certain students from every optional subject .. X members who chose Electrical,Y members who choose agriculture, Z members who chose Public Administration ..Is there anything like that ??

Question :: 3I also heard that there is scaling system on marks during final merit list. A guy got highest marks in Physics 68/100 (very hard subject)Another guy got highest marks in Public Administration (90/100) .. How are they bought to common scale ??

Question 4 ::Choosing most difficult optional & working hard on it to get maximum possible score Does this give any edge over others ???

Question 5 ::I gave my GATE exam last year. Got AIR 746. I'm thinking about writing Indian Engineering Services. Preparation for Electrical Electrical Engineering for Engineering services is sufficient for Civils Mains Electrical Engineering .. If that was the case, it'd be bit easy for me ??
