After successful completion of GP Rating course the candidates are able to join as a GP Rating in Indian & foreign Shipping Companies as a GP crew and work as deck or engine crew member. GP Rating Details The period of the Pre-Sea Training Course for General Purpose Ratings is 6 months. It is fully residential as per the Directorate General of shipping norms and so requires all the trainees to reside in-house. The course cover all aspects of the sea-faring profession (Deck and Engine), which also include swimming, physical drills, workshop training, rope and mast climbing, life saving, fire fighting exercises and ship visits etc. Pre Sea Training for Ratings also include the, following basic STCW 95 courses Personal Survival Techniques (PST) Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR) Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FPFF). Elementary First Aid (EFA) Oil Tanker Familiarisation (OTFC) General Purpose Rating (G.P. Rating): Eligibility Criteria: Indian Nationality Minimum age should be 17 ½ years and maximum 25 years on the date of commencement of the course. Minimum Academic Qualifications One who has passed in 10th/12th Standard from a recognised board with Science, Mathematics and English as core subjects Aggregate should be 40%, with Maths & Science and 40% in English. Medical standards Height 157 cms Weight 48 kgs Eye sight Normal 6/6 vision in both eyes without glasses/ spectacles and no colour blindness Candidates should be free from any disability, disease or abnormality. Medical examination will be carried out by the approved authority as per Merchant Shipping Medical Examination Rules 2000 prior to final selection. GP Rating Course Common Entrance Test (CET) Career in Merchant Shipping This is an opportunity for 10th ,10+2,I.T.I for a career on Merchant ships as a rating. Eligibility :- you would have 40% aggregate marks in 10th from a recognized Board with Science (Pass) Mathematics (Pass). And minimum 40% marks in english in 10th ,or 10=2,or Diploma or Degree.
