Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur has given a notification for the recruitment of Project Associate/Research Associate posts in a project entitled “Paleo-seismic and Paleo-tsunami Investigators along South-Middle Andaman & Car Nicobar Islands towards Earthquake & Tsunami Hazard Assessment of A & N Islands” in the Department of Civil Engineering.

Educational Qualification:
You must possess M.Tech/ M.Sc in Earth Sciences or Geophysics/ Applied Geology/ Chemistry with research experience.

Salary: Rs. 15000-1500-30000 (Salary will be fixed depending upon qualification and experience).

Duration:
Total duration of the project 5 years.

Nature of Job:
The project work will involve fieldwork in Andaman and Nicobar Islands to undertake identification and mapping tectonically uplifted landforms.
-To establish the stratigraphy record of paleo-tsunami deposits,
- Identification of paleo-earthquake evidences preserved in sediment succession by coring and trenching
- To reconstruct the chronology of the historic/pre-historic tsunami events and to understand the recurrence of tsunamis/large magnitude earthquakes in the region.

Desirable:
Candidate having experience in Geochemistry and OSL dating lab along with knowledge in Remote Sensing/GIS will be preferred.
-Candidates with Ph. D will be preferable
