UNIT 2 : Molecular Mechanism of Drug Action 12
Receptors as drug targets-receptor types, agonists, antagonists, partial agonists, inverse agonists sensitization, desensitization, tolerance,dependence. Enzymes as drug targets-inhibitors, transition state analogs, suicide substrates, multisubstrate analogues ,isoenzyme selectivity. Nucleic Acids as drug targets-intercalating drugs, topoisomerase poisons, alkylating and metallating agents, chain cutters, chain terminators, control of transcription, agents acting on RNA. Non-receptor targets-transport proteins, structural proteins, biosynthesis building blocks and process as targets, proteins, lipids, carbohydrates as targets.
