Step into the IITM campus without it and you will be exposed as an outsider within a
few minutes. Even the bulkiest OXFORD or the most exhaustive WEBSTER can do little
to protect you. For what we have here is more than just an English dialect. Forty five
years (1959-2004) in the making , this language symbolizes the two trials of an IITian
that make him more than just your average guy next-door-:creativity & brevity.
So if someone asked an IITian how he fared an exam ,don't expect a lengthy, detailed
analysis....He has either "crashed" or not -as simple as that ....In this age of time
management gurus and their techniques, our lingo stands out as a wonderful example
of concision.
Further ,our lingo serves as a foolproof verbal code, one that is known & extensively
used by the IITM brotherhood .So if we were to meet a person who showed off a lot ,
we could loudly proclaim that he was "putting pseud" without really offending anyone.

Indian Institute of Technology Madras is a public technical and research university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

As one of the Indian Institutes of Technology, it is recognised as an Institute of National Importance

They are only talking in the IIT-M Lingo, a highly evolved melting pot of a language with some Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and God-knows-what-else thrown in.

Most institute students speak it with relish and for a good reason: it is unique to the institute and can well double as a code language understood only by IITM students and alumni.

bogs - toilets.... probably from Bathrooms Of Graduating(graduate) Students.
bog room - room besides bog..
bucks - refers to money..(usage:'machan put 10 bucks...')
bulb - making mistakes on obvious things ....(Q.what does Dravid play ?? A.Tennis ("that is bulbing") )
cal c - calculator
coord - coordinator
crash - to sleep
crib - to complain
kult - to steal...(usage:'dude I kulted this spanner from tech room'..)
cup - a failure...derived from U grade (grade given for failure) (usage: 'I cupped in both the pmts da' )
cupper - people who cup..
da - dude...from tamil.
despo - desperate for something..(usage:'that prof looks awesome !!...dude don't be so despo')
diga - Kannada speaking people
enthu - enthusiasm..(usage:'dude put enthu.. we will rape the exam')
factory - IIT-JEE coaching institute..(examples: 'Narayana Chaitanya Bansal...blah...blah....blah...')
fart - pointless chatter..(usage:'I want to mug da but I don't find time'(that is fart))
fight - to try and do something with enthu. usually something that you dont want to do; (commonly used as 'put fight')
freshie - first years..
