The Associateship Program offered by the Indian Academy of Sciences was introduced in 1983 to identify and encourage promising young scientists. The programme was restructured to provide opportunity to young scientists from diverse institutions and backgrounds to pursue scientific excellence. As per the revised guidelines: The upper age limit is 38 years. The Associateship is tenable for a minimum period of 3 years or a maximum period of 6 years. The extended tenure of Associateship is applicable for candidates selected from 2019 onwards. Associates are expected to contribute to the Academys activities. Associates will be encouraged to attend meetings of the Academy. Receive free print editions of two Academy journals of their choice. Organize Lecture Workshops, Refresher Courses and mentor students/teachers selected under the Summer Research Fellowship Programme. Help in publications as authors and reviewers. Participate in editorial activities of the Academy journals. Nomination One pursuing rese arch in India is eligible to be nominated. The nomination should include one set: Nomination form with original signature Summary of the scientific contributions Nominees biodata and a complete list of publications Reprints of the five most important papers published by the nominee in his/her independent career. The validity of a nomination is one year. The primary criterion of selection is proven independent research activity.
