The Periyar University has established a directorate for distance education - Periyar Institute of Distance Education (PRIDE) in 2001 2002. It offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The course materials are supplied to the students well in advance. It has also introduced University Industry Collaborative Programs from 2010 2011 to offer job related programs and to cater the industrial needs of the students.
