Entrance exam is held to select students in institute.
Entrance exam may be of different level , based on the institute administration.

Most of secondary schools are now accepting students based on their previous result and interview.

The exam conducted by schools has their own papers and pattern with syllabus.

About Entrance Exams for Secondary Schools in UK:

Most private schools admission processes involve an entrance exam and an interview. Some schools set their own exams but many use national tests that are set by examination boards such as the Independent Schools Examinations Board (ISEB).

The Secondary Schools’ Admissions Test (SSAT) and The Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) are American-based testing systems used by independent schools around the world.

Preparing for the 11+ exam

The 11+ is an examination for grammar schools taken by some school pupils in the last year of primary school when they are 10 years old.

The test can vary from school to school but essentially there are four different “disciplines” used for the 11+ exam – verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, mathematics and English.

Preparing for the 13+ exam
Private schools use the 13+ exam (often called “Common Entrance”) to select year 9 students. The 13+ exam varies greatly between schools and there is often little common ground on what each school assesses or what they expect from candidates.
